Natural. Botanical. Intentional. Made with care
Consultations are available in person, or by telephone.
The initial consultation usually lasts between one hour and one hour fifteen minutes, allowing plenty of time to explore your health concerns in detail.
Prior to your appointment, we ask that you bring a list of any medications you are currently taking, including herbal remedies, vitamins, supplements and prescribed medicines.
During the consultation, we will discuss:
As herbalists, we have the time to listen properly. Unlike a typical short G.P appointment. Consultations are designed to provide space for a thorough understanding of your health and individual circumstances.
Physical examinations may also be performed where appropriate.
Follow-up consultations can be carried out in person, or by telephone.
Appointments are typically scheduled two to four weeks after the initial consultation, depending on the individual and the nature of the condition being addressed.
During your follow-up appointment we will review:
Every person responds differently to herbal medicine.
Some people notice improvements within a few days, whilst others may require several weeks or months. The timeframe depends on the individual, the nature of the condition and how long the issue has been present.
Herbal medicine is not intended to be a quick fix. Rather than simply masking symptoms, the aim is to support the body and encourage healing from the root cause.
The majority of herbal prescriptions are provided as tinctures. These are liquid herbal extracts created by soaking plant material in a mixture of water and alcohol.
Tinctures are fast-absorbing and are usually taken by diluting a small amount in water.
Please note that traditional tinctures contain alcohol as a natural preservative. Alcohol-free tinctures preserved in glycerine may also be available when appropriate.
Herbal teas are made from carefully selected dried herbs.
They are a gentle and nourishing way to support health and wellbeing.
Herbal capsules offer a convenient and tasteless alternative.
They are an effective way to take herbal medicine as part of your daily routine.
Herbal preparations can also be used externally as creams, ointments, oils or other applications.
These are used to support skin health and local areas of concern.
Qualified Medical Herbalists are trained to understand potential herb and drug interactions.
For this reason, it is important that we know about all medications, supplements and herbal remedies you are currently taking before prescribing any herbs.
In practice, significant interactions are relatively uncommon, and herbs can often be used safely alongside conventional treatments.
We always aim to work alongside your GP and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
Like all medicines, herbs should be treated with respect, and there is no substitute for a consultation with a qualified Medical Herbalist when it comes to both professional advice and the quality of the herbal medicines prescribed.
